Hi Friends!
Welcome back to "What I Made Wednesday," my attempt at making 52 different craft projects in 2013, using materials from my stash. Yesterday I spied this absolutely gorgeous (!) birthday party and was immediately inspired to break out my watercolors and do some painting.
The quote is from one of my very favorite Dave Matthews Band songs, "You and Me". It's a love song about running away together to the edge of the world and riding in the deep blue sea. It's about believing that together we can do anything.I used to listen to this song on repeat as I peddled my way through the back roads last summer. The line, "And when the kids are old enough, we're going to teach them to fly" always made me choke up a bit. Because, really? As much as my heart clenches up at the thought of Emily heading off to college in a year and a half (and then Maddie...and then Jack), my biggest hope is that John and I have given them a strong foundation, a zest for life, and the belief that they are ready to fly on their own.
This canvas will always remind me of the time just before; just before they started to fly.
Vicki
