Five for Friday!

Hi Friends!

I am a little behind in posting this week, hence Thursday and Friday's posts both on Friday.  Our weekend plans changed, but it's actually a blessing in disguise, both Maddie and Jack are home sick today.  It kind of feels like a Saturday with everyone home.  Ready for some fun links?  Here's what caught my attention this week:

1.   I am completely in love with the picture above (available here).  I spend a whole bunch of time staring down into a pool.

2.   This article about a Twitter feed that highlights "Middle Class Problems" completely cracks me up.  The stuff people complain about!   : )

3.  Jack can literally sleep through his alarm clock.  I go down there and his alarm is blasting away and he's completely out.  I wonder if this alarm clock would do the trick.  He loves bacon.

4.  How cool is this inexpensive artwork?  I would love to do this for our bedroom.

5.  I bought these socks to wear to CrossFit.  Everyone wears knee-socks at my box. I love this phrase (and totally believe it!), I just need to get brave enough to wear them.

Have a great weekend!

XO,
Vicki

Workspace Wednesday {March 5, 2014}

Hi Friends,

Today I am getting my craft room ready for some special ladies to use tomorrow.  My sweet friend, Sarah, lost her Dad on Monday night, and she and her sisters and their mom are coming over to work on the poster/picture boards for his memorial service.  I absolutely love opening up my craft room to others to create in, and I especially love it when I can help out with something as important as this.  I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow (laughter? tears? some of each?), but I know I feel honored to be a small part of their experience.

XO,
Vicki

Each Wednesday in 2014 I will share a glimpse of my workspace.  You can check out more workspaces on Marcy's blog.

Project Life {February 2014}

 Hi Friends!

Are you ready for a whole bunch of Project Life goodness?  As I mentioned in January, I'm only going to post my PL pages once a month.  That way, you get to see the whole month at a glance.
February was filled with watching the Olympics (I am a huge Olympics fan--I will watch pretty much any event!), seeing the girls' play, and the start of my new nutrition plan.
Jack and I went and saw The Lego Movie, and I'm not going to lie--it really was awesome!  I am still singing "Everything is Awesome!"

February was also concert month.  Jack had a concert, Emily had a concert, and Maddie had a concert.  And of course, I had to document Valentine's Day.
We also found out that Emily is now a National Merit Scholarship finalist in February--super exciting news, for sure!

I haven't put a whole bunch of my Color/Colour photos in my spreads, but I loved the picture of the gumballs, so I had to include it.

Emily got her first acceptance last week--from UW-Madison.  I realized that I didn't have any pictures of John in February, so I took a picture of him working on the computer--I tried to be stealth about it, but he totally noticed me.
John's parents went to California and sent the kids Stanford sweatshirts.  Two out of three of them put them on yesterday, so of course, I had Emily put hers on, too, so I could take a picture.

I broke my promise about not buying any more scrapbook supplies when I saw that Kal and Ann-Marie both designed flair for Scrapbook & More.  I had to stock up, right?  Now I'm done (I promise, John!).

And that's February!  I love Project Life.

Vicki

30 Lists

Hi Friends!

I've decided to play along with 30 Lists again this month.  I've done it twice in the past, and I absolutely love looking back at my little books to see what was important to me at the time. Kam and Amy always manage to come up with fun, original prompts. In the past, I put a whole bunch of time into making each page super-cute.  This time I'm going to focus on the lists and keep my pages simple.  When I look back at my books, I'm really only interested in the lists (although I do marvel at how much time I put into each layout).  I am using a mini album designed by Elise which I've been saving hording because she doesn't sell mini albums any more.  I added a few letter stickers, some washi tape, a couple of enamel dots, and I'm good to go.  I'm ready to get listing!

XO,
Vicki

You can check out my past lists here and here.

Color/Colour (Orange)

Hi Friends!

Yay!  I loved orange week!  It seemed like I found orange everywhere.  Here's the best of what I took this week.

I am loving this photography challenge!  I'm thinking of just keeping it going throughout the year.  On to the last color of this challenge:  Blue!

One Little Word {Commit}

commit
"Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do
long after the mood you said it in has left you."  --Trent Shelton

Hi Friends,

Two months in, and "commit" is proving to be one challenging "little word".  It's always there in the back of my mind, forcing me to think about things I'd rather not.  February wasn't as fun as January, but I am going to commit to March like nobody's business.  : )

Family:
1.  At least one one-on-one date with John, Emily, Maddie, and Jack.   No.  Jack & I got one in, but the girls' schedules were crazy this month.  John and I got out, but we met friends, we were not alone.
2.  Plan and go on one all-family winter activity:  skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating.  Something outside!  No.  This didn't happen.  : (
3.  Call my parents once a week.  : )  I missed one week.

Health:
1.  One month strict nutrition.   Yes!  I am feeling great with the new eating plan.
2.  Crossfit at least 3 times per week.  Yes!  I even went 4x/week twice.
3.  Swim at least 2 times per week.  No.  I did get to the pool this month, but not twice a week.

Budget:
1.  Record all expenditures. No--I got a little slack in recording in the middle of the month, but then got back on track.
2.  Come in under budget.  No.

Creativity:
1.  Take full advantage of Script School.  Yes!  Not sure what I meant by "full advantage," but I am enjoying this new hobby.
2.  Stay current on Project Life. Yes!

Yikes.  February doesn't look as good as January, but I'm going to soldier on.  Here's my "commit" goals for March:

Family:
1.  This month I want to focus on John.  I'd like to find some intentional one-on-one time with him each week in March.
2.  Two full-family game nights in March.
3.  Call my parents once a week.

Health:
1.  Stay strict on the nutrition plan.
2.  CrossFit four times a week.

Budget:
1.  Record all expenditures.
2. Come in under budget.

Creativity:
1.  Spend time working on Script School at least an hour each week.  Practice makes better.
2.  Stay current on Project Life.

I think these goals are all completely doable.  I know I can commit to all of them!

XO,
Vicki
